“Watership Down” Hazel and Kehaar Production Cel and Background (1978) - ID: jun26019

A production cel and background setup from the Nepenthe Studios animated cult classic "Watership Down" (1978). Featuring Hazel and Kehaar, the hand-painted cel and background were created at the studio and used during the animation process. All of the layers are actual frames of animation that were photographed and appear in the film. The two cel layers are seen at about 1:05:08 when Kehaar and Hazel are talking near the boat, but they don’t match each other’s frames exactly. The background is seen at about 1:14:12 when the rabbits are making their escape from Woundwort and his warren. Measuring 10.5”x13.75” overall, with the character image area measuring 3.5”x7.75”, the setup is in very good condition with light edge and corner wear and adhesive tape along top and bottom edges of the background.
