This is a very rare limited edition medallion commemorating the Grand Opening of Tokyo Disneyland. This gorgeous medallion features an image of Mickey on the front side with the lettering for Grand Opening above his image and the date April 15, 1983 below his feet. The back side features an image of the Tokyo Disneyland castle with Kingdom of Family Dreams above the image and Tokyo Disneyland below the image. The imagery on both sides is slightly three dimensional and looks stunning. There is a common version of this coin that was available to all cast members, but this special medallion is marked as Pure Silver on the inside of the original case and pressed into the medallion just below the date. The two medallions are also slightly different in style as this one features the circles that go around Mickey's image on the front side. Based on our examination and research, the "pure silver" may be a pure silver coating applied to the coin. We have seen coins that appear to have chipping in what looks like a coating, although this one is in pristine condition. The medallion itself measures about 1.75" in diameter and is in excellent condition, in its original case.
