In 1930, Pat Powers(Walt Disney's Film Distributor) offerd to
finance an animation studio for Ub Iwerks, the man credited with
creating Mickey Mouse. Iwerks hired a small staff including Disney
Composer carl Stallings, Grim Natwick and Chuck Jones (hired as
a cel washer). Their first series was "Flip The Frog"
which was picked up and distributed by MGM Studios.
Early

unusual artwork featuring a cut-out hand painted image of Little
Black Sambo (1935) and a Cut out portion of a Black And White Background
placed together on a 9.5" X 12.5" piece of Animation paper.
The background is most likely from an earlier (pre-color) Iwerks
short. The set-up may have been put together for publicity or publication

rare cel and production background from "The Headless Horseman"
(1934). The background is a portion of a pan background and measures
9" X 12" and has timing notations along the bottom. The
cel has also bee trimmed down to 9" X 12". The character

Lamp" (1934). The cel is trimmed down to 10" X 5".
