In 1930, Pat Powers(Walt Disney's Film Distributor) offerd to
finance an animation studio for Ub Iwerks, the man credited with
creating Mickey Mouse. Iwerks hired a small staff including Disney
Composer carl Stallings, Grim Natwick and Chuck Jones (hired as
a cel washer). Their first series was "Flip The Frog"
which was picked up and distributed by MGM Studios.

mid 1931, after only about 8 shorts, Iwerk's distributor encourged
him to make the character less frog-like. This production drawing
is from a short from about 1933. The animation paper measures 9.5"
